Shore Job opportunities

Maritime career and shore job opportunities

Introduction:

Merchant navy is an amazing career and presents highly attractive prospects, remuneration and responsibilities at a young age. These roles provide mariners with a chance to thrive, progress, discover, embark on exciting journeys, and earn esteem simultaneously. Yet many mariners are drawn to shore jobs due to challenges such as:

1.EMOTIONAL DIS-CONNECT

Being a mariner, officers lead a nomadic life, constantly journeying across the globe.  consequently, they are often distanced from their families. During critical junctures, establishing an emotional connection with their loved ones becomes a challenge, fostering a lingering sense of isolation and lot of  Mental stress.

2.RESTRICTED GROWTH

Reaching the pinnacle of their maritime roles, individuals with an ambition for growth often find themselves wanting to extend their horizons. This urge drives them to leave their current positions, seeking fresh avenues in other industries that align with their quest for both personal and professional development.

3.INHERENT RISK

Sailing jobs offer remarkable excitement and adventure, but they also come with inherent risks. The likelihood of sustaining injuries, including severe ones that pose life-threatening risks, remains substantial. With constant exposure to water and limited access to land, mariners carry a subconscious fear of potential life-threatening situations.

4.HEALTH ISSUES

The merchant navy demands a harmonious balance of mental and physical attributes. Any physical injury or health concerns render mariners unfit for duty, necessitating their departure from the profession.

A lot of mariners due to the above and many other reasons  look for other avenues ashore. Many times and most persons take the first available opportunity without delving too deep into it.
