Job Description

We are hiring for Sr. Vessel Operator (Tanker) for a leading ship owner, below mentioned are the details for the same.


 As a ship owner and operator, its core expertise being in the oil products sector. It actively trades a time-chartered fleet, owns and invests in tonnage, commercially and technically manages owned/controlled and third-party vessels, acts as exclusive cargo broker for traders, and trades in the freight derivatives market. 


__ Core purpose of the role: To co-ordinate the day to day operational activities of voyage and time chartered tankers


Summary of responsibilities:
__ • Ensure compliance with agreed charter-party terms;
__ • Oversee agency appointments;
__ • Oversee the fixing of freight charges and obtaining cargo space;
__ • Communicate with internal and external parties including Charterers, Brokers, Vessel Masters, Shipping Agents, Port Captains, Surveyors, Vessel Technical Managers and any concerned parties in Tanker Operations regarding voyage orders and vessel itineraries;
__ • Respond to vessel issues, cooperating with concerned parties until resolution;
__ • Monitor vessel movement and voyage performance;
__ • Handle Letters of Indemnity;
__ • Review vessel stowage and tank cleaning plans;
__ • Liaise with owners regarding oil major approvals;
__ • Stowage & Voyage planning to meet safety criteria, international/domestic regulation, Charterer’s requirements and economic efficiency;
__ • Input vessel movement information / cargo operation into specific operation management software (IMOS/Veson);
__ • Monitor (voyage P+L) through relevant operation management software;
__ • Handle Tanker Bill of Lading, i.e. issuance and collection of B/L, to obtain LOI from charterer/broker through commercial channels and instruct cargo release order for concerned parties in accordance with Charter Party provisions;
__ • Manage the filing of the vessel’s documents, i.e. notice of readiness, cargo operation log & time sheet, ullage report, protest letter etc.;
__ • Update the vessel's itinerary for charterer/broker in accordance with Charter Party provisions;
__ • Send port time with shipping documents to charterer/broker in accordance with Charter Party provisions;
__ • Liaise with PFAs to issue freight invoices with supporting documents;
__ • Other related tanker operations work;
__ • Provide back up for other operators in event of absence.

__ Skills and experience Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years of Shore-based tanker operator experience at a Tanker owner.

  • With Sailing Experience on Oil Tankers up to a rank of Chief Officer or Master.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision;
