Content On Webinars

95% of the CV's received from mariners, specially without shore experience, are not at all appropriate to say the least.
The reason:
a) It doesn't showcase one's skill sets.
b) Too long.
c) A lot of unrelated information.
d) Not formatted and not presentable.
e) Extremely basic and so ON.....

Sea & Beyond exclusively places mariners in shore jobs and has been receiving a number of CV’s from mariners who would like to apply for these jobs. However we are not able to forward many of the CV’s to the employers because they are just too raw. In fact only 5-10% of the CV’s received actually show the right skillsets of a person. This effects the chances of this person being able to progress ahead.

From this webinar you would know about:

1) The selection process of a candidate ashore.
2) What do companies look for before they call a candidate for interview.
3) The role of placement agency.
4) The difference between a placement process on a ship and ashore.
5) The role of a CV.
6) How to make a good CV and differentiate yourself from others.
7) The do’s and dont’s while preparing the CV.
8) The ideal format of a CV will be informed.

This webinar will keep the focus on shipping fraternity and the skillsets that mariners have.

The webinar will be conducted by Capt. Gaurav Rana with inputs from a professional CV writer.

Capt. Gaurav Rana left active sailing in 2010 and worked for a British consultancy company called BMT Consultant India as Technical Director till 2014. He was than heading a port on the west coast of India for about a year. He then started Sea & Beyond. Besides running this venture he also does port consultancy and has collaborated with the likes of KPMG and CRISIL for various port projects.

Besides himself hunting for shore job during sailing days to changing a couple of shore jobs, Gaurav has a 1st hand experience of placement of mariners ashore. He has recruited mariners in his previous job and now operates a company which is into marine placements. He also interacts with vessel owners and promoters/senior persons of other shipping/port/marine related companies and has 1st hand knowledge on what they look for in a candidate and what they DON’T. He has also received more than 500 CV's from mariners and found that many cannot be forwarded to the employer because the skillsets are not fully exhibited. The issue is found all across the ranks specially with TOP 4 ranks who in reality have a lot to show but they are not presenting it properly

After the webinar 5 good questions would be taken. Also candidates are encouraged to write their queries to support@staging.seaandbeyond.com. This will help the presenter to get a feel of the mindset of the attendees and prepare the presentation as per the requirement.
