Capt.Nandi joined sea in the year1998after completing 3 yrs BSC Nautical Science from T.S Chanakya. He sailed on chemical, product and crude oil tankersin all ranks from cadet to Master.

His goal in life was to be a pilot right from the time he stepped out at sea.He got the opportunity to work as a pilot in Mundra portin 2009. Mundra port as you know is the largest private port operated by Adani.

He got the opportunity to pilot all kinds of vessel ranging from abarges to Cape sizers, from small bunker barges to VLCCs, from small feeders to the post Panamax container vessels over LOA of 350 mtrs and from draft vessels to extremely high freeboard vessels like RoRo’s and Gas Carriers.

In Oct 2011, he got an opportunity to establish and head the marine operations of anew multipurpose terminal operated by Adani. In 2018, he moved to Hazira LNG terminal as a pilot cum berthing master. In his new role, he not only gets opportunity to pilot the LNG vessels but also over see the entire operations during the vessels stay at the berth.

Other than pilotage he got opportunity to work in various management roles in port operations, management of port flotillas (tugs and boats) and provided technical inputs for construction of new berths and terminals, meeting Marine Department’s compliance requirement like ISPS and NSPC and achieving the financial objective of the department.

Capt Nandi is not only passionate about port operations and pilotage but is also very technology savvy. He develops his own application to improve efficiency of work and had been instrumental in design and co ordinating development of various port related application in his organization.

A 30-35 minute presentation by Capt. Nandi where he would provide an overview of the P&I clubs with special focus on the survey opportunities for them
20-25 minutes of Q&A wherein Capt. Nandi would take questions
