Capt. Thakur joined sea in the year 1975 through T.S Rajendra. He sailed on mainline vessels till 1984 with Scindia Steam Navigation company limited and shifted to offshore vessels in 1985. He was one of the early entrants to offshore sector from India. He started his offshore career on offshore support vessels, heavy lift platform construction barge and dive support vessels. He witnessed the offshore industry from very nascent stages and understood the potential of this industry. In 2008 he moved on to shore job as a trainer in dynamic positioning vessels and is still working with Bibby ship management India Pvt ltd as a Director of the training center located in St Xavier engineering college campus in Mumbai.
Capt. Thakur's life goal is to empower seafarers with relevant training.
