Capt. Brar has dealt with P&I matters for incidents during his sea career and regularly deals with these incidents in his present role. He is currently working for a large consulting firm based in London and provides consulting to law firms,marine insurers, ship owners, ship managers, training instructors and private entities. He is also a flag state inpector for Transport Malta. He was a flag state surveyor for MCA UK and trained PSCO for Paris MOU.

Capt. Brar had an exquisite sea-carrer spanning 17 years out which 6 years in command. He stood 1st in his Pre-sea batch and passed all MMD exams in 1st attempt. He was accorded command at the age of 28 years, became a maritime lawyer at 35, a flag state surveyor by 36 and surveyor for P&I clubs at 39 years. He holds a Masters in Maritime Law from the university of Southampton and PGD in Marine Insurance from World Maritime University, Malmo. He is also a member of CMMI and Associate Fellow of Nautical Institute.

The webinar would consist of the following:

  • A 30-35 minute presentation by Capt. Brar where he would provide an overview of the P&I clubs with special focus on the survey opportunities for them
  • 20-25 minutes of Q&A wherein Capt. Brar would take questions
  • A quick feedback survey about the webinar.


About the Speakers


Capt. Amarinder Brar
Marine Manager - MFB Solicitors,

Capt. Amarinder Brar: He is a master mariner with over 25 years of industry experience. This includes 17 years at sea with 6 years of command time, followed by Master of Maritime Law (Merit) from the University of Southampton. He also holds a PG diploma in Marine Insurance from World Maritime University, Malmo. He has worked as Nautical Lecturer in India for all grades of deck competency, a marine surveyor for MCA in UK which included PSC duties, as a Consultant for LOC London serving the maritime legal and insurance sectors. He now works as Marine manager with MFB Solicitors, London where he is involved in both dry and wet shipping disputes.
